The following social service projects are currently underway:
GADADHAR ABHYUDAYA PRAKALPA:
An informal primary school, Gadadhar Pathshala, is run by the Institute in its vicinity for 100 underprivileged students. Besides education, the students are provided with school dress, Tiffin, and books. Six teachers are engaged in educating the students. Similar schools with approximately the same student number and facilities are run in 2 villages: Rajendrapur in North 24 – Parganas and Indrapala in South 24 – Parganas.
NUTRITION FOR THE UNDERPRIVILEGED
300 persons – 250 underprivileged children in the age group of 1 – 8 years, their mothers, and 50 plus persons from poor background – are provided with a litre of milk, bread, cake or biscuits on six days a week at 6.30 am.
SWAMI VIVEKANANDA SWASTHYA PARISEVA
Medical help is provided to villagers in the above two villages; patients from underprivileged economic background are provided with financial help and medical assistance is given to RMIC staff and their families.
EDUCATIONAL SCHOLARSHIPS
The Institute provides two scholarship schemes for higher studies abroad:
‘Debesh Kamal Scholarship’ and the ‘Institute Scholarship for Foreign Education’.
Besides these, the institute offers several hundred scholarships to poor meritorious students (including physically disable students) for undergraduate and postgraduate education. Educational assistance is also offered to children of the RMIC staff for school and college education.
